The Recovery
Since 2014 up to 2019
These are the years in which the ESI found its stability after the ups and downs of the recent past. The last ministerial chair has also been definitively closed, ESI adapts its teaching staff to the once again growing demand from the Italian/Italianophile community, bringing it to good 14 unit. To comply with the new Dutch employment legislation, from the 2016 the teachers previously “employees” direct from ESI, assume the legal role of “freelancer”, to whom ESI contractually outsources teaching assignments.
In recent years it has become essential for ESI to find ever greater financial resources of its own, necessary to integrate the ministerial contribution to elementary/middle school courses, in a phase of slow but progressive decline. In order to avoid corresponding progressive increases in the registration fees requested from the students' families, ESI organizes paid courses for adults of all levels and needs, while always trying to limit the burden on the student. In addition to normal group courses aimed at learning the Italian language for tourism and cultural purposes, ESI therefore also organizes individual courses, tailored to your needs (professional) of the individual student.
In 2018 The new rules for requesting Italian citizenship by foreign citizens come into force, with the requirement of legal certification of passing an Italian language exam of a minimum B1 level. ESI promptly adapts to this new need, with the training and qualification of its teachers at the Universities of Siena and Perugia for the administration of the CILS and CELI exams, as officially recognized by the Italian authorities. Following this qualification and verifying the adequacy of its logistical and administrative structures, ESI is authorized to administer the CILS and CELI exams (for all CEFR levels) in the name and on behalf of the aforementioned Universities. ESI thus begins the organization of specific courses aimed at preparing aspirants for Italian citizenship for the B1 level exam, and the organization of the exams themselves.
At the end of the period the ESI counts on approx 300 elementary/middle school students, divided into 27 corsi, and 36 adults divided into 5 corsi, with a total of 14 teachers.
