Since four years I take part in the ESI course Italian for foreigners in The Hague. Each week a lesson of 1,5 hours in a small group of enthousiast students. We started physically together but since the restrictions of Covid we meet via Zoom, which appears to work out very well. Our teacher, Loredana has a great talent in creating a lively and inspiring atmosphere, in which we all feel at ease but also inspired to try to put into practice what we have learned. And so we move on from level A2 to level C1. Loredana explains the grammar very clearly and sees to it that there is enough time to practice, while we are reading texts or exercise in conversation.

The books which we use are very important, not only for learning the language but even more for making acquaintance with the rich culture of Italy and its great artists, actors and authors. Our teacher discusses with us what books we will use before a new study year begins.

So, we learn to translate, to read, to listen and understand (very realistic fragments of conversation), and to talk! Speaking for my self, I am very grateful that a dear colleague of mine advised me to do this course and I enjoy the lessons every week again (September – May) thanks to our excellent teacher!

I went once to ESI for certification of Italian as a foreign language. The school is well located and easy to reach. Eros and Loredana were very kind and helpful. 100% recommended!

The course was very good, very good teacher, few people so we could understand well and the method was very good.

I have been attending the Italian course at ESI for two years now and I am very satisfied! The classes (cause covid online) they are very varied, led by the enthusiastic teacher Loredana. There is an hour and a half of lessons every week. Only Italian is spoken in class and consists in correcting homework together, get an explanation of grammar, speak, do exercises, read texts, do listening tests and sometimes listen to Italian music. All in all very varied and if you have any questions you can always contact Loredana.

Learning Italian is one thing – getting to know Italy is another one. This course, although started in difficult circumstances during the pandemic – combines in an outstanding way to get the Italian language together with the beauty of this country and its culture and all that online. That is only possible if the teacher is not only a professional language trainer, but also and ambassador for both, the language and the culture. Thank you very much Professor Loredana!!
